As the seasons shift and we say goodbye to summer, it’s an auspicious time to prepare your home for the cooler seasons. What better way to do that than to update the colors in the heart of the home; the kitchen. And I’m not just talking about walls and cabinets, but the colors of your appliances. How long has that stainless steel refrigerator dominated the look of your kitchen, and does it still serve the aesthetic of the room?
Here are some of my favorite appliance color trends in 2023:
White appliances
Most kitchen trends are moving toward lighter and brighter spaces, and removing any
dark appliances you may have is a great way to accomplish just that!
The matte white appliances from GE’s Cafe line have a way of making a kitchen come alive. Its unique texture and customizable hardware makes the space anything but boring. If you’re not into the matte white, they also have their appliances in matte black!
I love the way the all-white collection of Smeg appliances gives the space that clean and airy look, all while letting that beautiful blue tile pop.
The white ZLINE dishwasher in this kitchen was such a smart choice as it creates a seamless look that makes the space feel bigger and brighter. There’s a reason why white appliances are a timeless choice
Bold, vibrant colors
If you’re looking to make a statement in your kitchen this season, you’re in luck! Bold colors are in trend and are now a more common option when it comes to appliances.
Smeg has a long line of colorful appliances, mine favorite being their retro refrigerators, that vary in color depending on your taste and the aesthetic of your kitchen.
Kitchenaid has been making colorful countertop appliances for years! And their quality is hard to beat if you’re an avid cook or baker. I adore their 2023 color of the year, hibiscus.
Color matching to the cabinetry
Yes, it is possible to match your appliances to your cabinets in a way other than white on white. Homeowners are now seeking unique color choices that match their individual tastes and this trend falls under that.
Black appliances against black cabinetry is a very sleek way to lean into this trend. deVOL does it right by adding a light countertop, gold hardware, and beautiful decor.
Some are taking this trend up a notch by matching colorful cabinets with equally colorful appliances, like this very pink kitchen that features a Samsung Bespoke refrigerator.
Two tone
Much like mixing finishes, creating a two tone effect with the color of your kitchen appliances creates a striking contrast and adds depth to the design. This can be done by purchasing appliances that are two tone, or contrasting with your cabinetry.
The Samsung Bespoke refrigerator receives another shout-out as their customization options are truly high-end. Although it’s an appliance, the two tone effect of the blue and the silver turns this refrigerator into a statement piece.
You can also achieve the two tone effect with color matching appliances specifically to the cabinetry, like this kitchen from deVOL.
In the year of 2023, the options are endless when it comes to designing our perfect kitchen. My advice as always is to design your space in an intentional way that brings you joy. Afterall, the kitchen is the heart of the home.
