In Feng Shui, one of the most immutable rules has always been to eliminate most, if not
all, electronics from where we sleep. It is felt that these devices are destructive to
healthy and restorative rest.
As a designer, I have long dealt with my client’s desires to have a television in their
bedroom. Especially here in New York, our small living spaces often require having that
extra family television in the adult’s bedroom. So how did I, in good faith, work with this
issue? In the most desperate cases, I would often suggest that they should cover the
TV monitor with a blanket when sleeping. The subliminal removal of it would assist in
mitigating the poor Feng Shui.
Fortunately, today we have developed the technology to allow for ways to do better than
throw a blanket over it.
My current choice for hidden TV solutions is now Reflectel, who specialize in turning televisions into sophisticated mirror TVs.
“When you choose Reflectel, you’re embracing a 35-year legacy of unmatched craftsmanship, rooted in the exceptional quality and innovative design that began with Elizabeth Goldfeder’s founding of GK Framing in 1986. Over three decades, Elizabeth honed her skills in fine art framing, collaborating with prestigious artists, galleries, and collectors. This deep expertise laid the groundwork for Reflectel, which she established in 2014, continuing to set industry standards with evolving designs and unparalleled quality.”
Without further ado: here are some of my favorite ways Reflectel is solving one of the biggest Feng Shui design problems in our modern era.
If space allows, create a seating area off to the side of the bed
Create a photo collage around the mirrored TV
Position the mirror tv in a way that doesn’t showcase the sleeper in the bed
Mount it up near the ceiling:
In the past I have created a movable panel that could slide up, hidden in inside a
cabinet, etc. But these options are truly cumbersome and require so much in the way of
mechanical additions, adding even more electrical requirements into the bedroom.
Mirrored TVs are a much more beautiful and sophisticated way of keeping large electronics out of sight. As with everything in Feng Shui, in the effort to manifest the most positive energy, the bedroom has some basic best policies when it comes to creating that restful space for sleep.
Remember, It’s best if one doesn’t place a mirror in such a way that it contains your image while you are asleep. So, directly at the foot of your bed isn’t ideal. But there are still ways to have that TV in your bedroom and still hide it in plain sight.
We’d love to brainstorm with you to see how you can get the best of both worlds.
