My favorite projects are those with repeat clients over the years. This bathroom renovation was with the same client from the Chelsea living room and dining room transformation that I wrote about the other week, and it was just as enjoyable to do!
As this update was a portion of a larger project, she was asking for a new look for her powder room / 3rd bath on a budget that didn’t look like a budget. I was confident that I could pull this off! I had always felt that the overall look of the last renovation
Had been way to “yellow” and wanted to change up to something more contemporary and luxe in look. Below are some images of what we started with!
In order to do this in such a way that it would pass the approvals board’s idea of decorating, we opted to keep the current plumbing in place and not do a gut renovation. In terms of budget, keeping the same footprint was helpful!
After a shopping trip with the client for the overall design style she was looking for, we got to work!
An overview of what we accomplished:
We removed the decorative tile design from the walls, preserving the full height medicine cabinet that had been installed in a prior renovation, which helped keep the overall footprint the same.
We sourced new shower trims from Kohler in matte black that work with the in wall roughs that had been there - simultaneously upgrading the quality and style.
We preserved the shower pan, we removed the nasty builder grade shower enclosure and sourced a replacement from Vigo that is gorgeous!
Since we couldn’t do a gut renovation, we installed a new non-slip “floating floor” from Tilebar over the existing floor.
The gorgeous wall mounted vanity from Robern and LED lighted mirror brings functionality and atmosphere to the space.
We installed new lighting from Visual Comfort.
The faucet and bathroom accessories in Matte Black from Phylrich and Kartners Bathroom Accessories were installed.
We updated the look into something more modern, greatly increased the storage, and improved the lighting; all within a budget! Now everyone in the house is jealous of our gorgeous new bathroom and they want a new primary bathroom done!
