Design On A Dime Event 2015

Event: Housing Works’ 11th Annual Design on a Dime

Date: Thursday April 23rd, 2015

Location: Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th St, NYC

The Details: Last week I had the pleasure and privilege of participating in Housing Works’ Design on a Dime benefit for 2015. As one of 60 invited designers, it was my task to design and donate a vignette true to my personal design aesthetic, with all monies raised going towards Housing Works; a charity whose mission it is to “end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, and the provision of lifesaving services.”

The event attracted design-conscious A-listers from around New York City, including celebrities like TV-personality Andy Cohen and Victoria’s Secret model Martha Hunt, who were treated to hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, live entertainment, and a first look at our designs at a VIP Gala the night prior.

This year’s benefit was a huge success, raising over a million dollars to go towards the building of housing on a 6,000 sq ft lot for almost 30 formerly homeless people living with HIV/AIDS. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my wonderful sponsors as none of my design contribution could have been possible without their generous donations and support:

Design on a Dime is always an experience to remember. As a designer, seeing my vignette alongside trailblazing designers is both powerful and inspirational. It was certainly a privilege to be amongst this year’s chosen designers and I hope to be back in 2016.
