IDS Inaugural Event

IDS NYC FINAL.png

With over 3000 members nationally, the Interior Design Society (IDS) is one of the country’s largest design communities. Last Wednesday, TriBeCa’s beautiful Roberta Roller Rabbit showroom became the venue for our first NY chapter meeting. With 17 actively busy chapters from across the country, our new chapter is an extension of an already vibrant and eager community of design entrepreneurs, firms, and the businesses that service them.

Pamela Warren, our chapter’s secretary, greeted members as they arrived. The enthusiasm in the room was exciting and palpable. Once attendees checked-in, they were sent along the picturesque Duane Street to stores like Stella, Jonathan Burden Antiques and Paintings by Robert Mango to gather local flavor and get a sense of what the designer-friendly neighborhood has to offer.

Once members returned, they were treated to food and drinks courtesy of our suppliers Roc Restaurant and Deep Eddy Vodka. After a healthy spot of networking we introduced our guest speaker Emily Thompson of Emily Thompson Flowers. Emily spoke about her creative process, the intersection of nature and the decorative arts, as well as her experiences designing holiday displays for the White House.

We were absolutely overwhelmed with the show of support! Our Vice President Byron James, Pamela Warren and myself want to thank our host, Katie Shoen of Roberta Roller Rabbit for her hospitality, Emily Thompson for her captivating and inspired address and everyone that attended the meeting. It was truly a fabulous evening! We can’t wait to build this new and exciting chapter with you all.

Our next meeting will be held on 22 October 2014. Stay posted as we announce the location and time on the NY chapter's Facebook page over the coming weeks. Have any questions or want to join? Shoot us an email: ids_info@verizon.net - We don’t bite.
